PROBLEMS WITH SCULLERY & HOLZ INTERIORS P/L
This Blog site has been started so that customers can leave comments here - both favourable and unfavourable.
A more appropriate name for this company could be
SKULLDUGGERY & HOAX
When we decided to replace our kitchen early in 2010 we looked at quite a few showrooms and finally were trying to decide between two companies on our short list: Scullery and Holz Interiors P/L in Willoughby and Mobalpa Kitchens in Drummoyne. Stefan Mayer, the owner of Scullery & Holz Interiors P/L was most attentive to all our enquiries and promptly provided us with a complete set of drawings for the proposed kitchen. Our telephone calls were answered immediately and upon making changes to the plans Stefan Mayer immediately produced a new set of drawings ( on four occasions). Sadly, this early attention to our calls and enquiries prompted us to sign a contract with Stefan Mayer of Scullery & Holz Interiors P/L.
Our experience with this company has been a nightmare. We signed a contract with Stefan Mayer of Scullery and Holz Interiors P/L on 30 June 2010 for a kitchen which was scheduled to start at end August 2010 and be completed within eight weeks. This company took a deposit of $11,000.00 and then failed to perform. Once the deposit was paid, Stefan Mayer was virtually impossible to contact.
Scullery and Holz Interiors Pty Ltd failed to provide us with Home Warranty Insurance, they failed to engage licensed tradesperson's. They failed to keep their promise to complete the kitchen on four occasions:
- 26th October 2010;
- 20th November 2010;
- 20th December 2010
- 24th January 2011.
Had we done this we would have paid the full amount of the contract price to Scullery & Holz. We would have had a kitchen that was not even correctly installed, with cabinetry and fittings in disarray and that were not according to our requirements, without bench tops, without appliances installed and connected and cabinetry unpainted. In the end they virtually abandoned the job and it was then finished by Lovely Kitchens costing us an additional $11,900.00 over and above the contract price. Scullery and Holz failed to keep their promise to reimburse us for any amounts we paid Lovely Kitchens to finish the job they could not complete themselves. We were without a kitchen from mid September 2010 until 24th February 2011.
This has been a most traumatic and costly experience - an absolute nightmare.

Another bad experience here! The delay and money lost has been completely stressful. Do not use this company - no matter how good they seem during the sales process!. Matter has now been referred to the Tribunal. I still have some work that needs to be done I am thinking of contacting Lovely Kitchens to complete it if they are the suppliers.
ReplyDeleteHas your matter been heard at the Tribunal? I urge all people with complaints to take it directly to the Office of Fair Trading. They will contact Scullery & Holz but dont expect it to get resolved - S & H are shockingly hopeless. How they managed to survive this long is amazing. The matter than passes on to the Tribunal where you can seek recovery of money and obtain compensation. I will be pursuing this matter out of principle!
There are a few more unhappy customers who have been duped by Stefan Mayer of Scullery & Holz Interiors Pty Ltd. They have indicated their dissatisfaction at the links below ( you may need to copy and paste these web addresses into your browser if they do not appear as links):

This company as also come to the attention of the ASIC through creditors that were not paid.
Our matter is yet to be resolved through the CTTT. Should we not get the result we expect there ,we will take the matter to Court.
Hi, Indigored75,
ReplyDeleteLovely Kitchens were the people who were engaged by Scullery & Holz to make our cabinetry. When Scullery & Holz virtually abandoned the project as they were incapable of finishing the job we engaged Lovely Kitchens to complete it, correcting all the design errors and omissions of Scullery & Holz. Lovely Kitchens are a reputable business and we have been most satisfied with their work. Have a look at our kitchen on their web site:

ReplyDeleteCTTT Hearing 28 November 2011
Hi,
As expected Stefan Mayer did not attend the CTTT this morning. His representative asked for a further three weeks. This was granted with the warning that no further excuses will be tolerated. Stefan Mayer must provide the information upon which he bases his case at the end of three weeks. We stated that this was just another delaying tactic and that Stefan Mayer just goes around taking deposits and then doing nothing. We showed the Member (the CTTT officer) the list of ten people complaining about Scullery & Holz at:
http://www.companynamesucks.com/scullery-&-holz-interiors-pty-ltd--anc--102-846-284-sucks-9250.html
Next hearing will be next year. Will keep you updated here.
If everybody took their complaints to the CTTT now, justice will be done to these unscrupulous people.

To all those people taken to the cleaner's by Stefan Mayer's companies (shown above), we tend to often just think about our own circumstances and our own loss, frustration and anxiety. A search on the internet, led to this site My Mom's "Fonzi" scheme. It helps to put things in perspective now and again.
http://kensingtonstories.blogspot.com/2009/01/my-moms-fonzi-scheme.html
- reading it makes our own problems and loss look so small in comparison.
Not that this justifies dishonest business dealings.
Stefan Mayer is invited to respond to the following people who have recently paid him money and received no deliveries, no installations, and only broken promises and no refunds:
A.M. paid $15,000 in June 2011
M.W. paid $19,000 in Nov/Dec 2011
M.K. paid $6,500 in May 2011
L.G. paid $8,000 in July 2011
Where has all this money gone ?
Holidays abroad? A lifestyle of luxury? Into your home in Pymble which is on the market right now?Or is it just accumulating somewhere offshore so that when matters get too uncomfortable here in Australia you can relocate elsewhere?
Anybody who has lost money through these companies should immediately report the matter to the following government bodies.
1. Office of Fair Trading

2. ASIC http://www.asic.gov.au/complain
3. Scam watch https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/content/index.phtml/tag/reportascam/
4. Dob- in a dodgy scheme

The sooner you do this the sooner the scams will be stopped and justice will be done. Your immediate action now could stop other unsuspecting people falling victim to this scam.
Thank you for creating this blog to tell the truth about this truly horrible man. I couldn't believe the recent article in the Sydney Morning Herald saying he had been doing this accross 5 different companies all with the same name and that his wife, Marie Campion, is a senior person at the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a director of this company. How do these people sleep at night knowing everything they own has been swindeled from others?
ReplyDeleteOn the 12th July 2011 we ordered a kitchen cabinet from Mr Stefan Mayer the Director of Bespoke Installations trading as Scullery & Holz. We signed a contract and paid him $8000.00 cash, a 50% deposit as these were Mr Mayer’s terms of business.
ReplyDeleteMr Mayer told us our cabinet would be installed within six to eight weeks. After ten weeks had passed we tried to contact Mr Mayer on both his business and mobile phones and our calls were not returned. We continued to attempt to contact Mr Mayer without success. Finally in November 2011, after more than four months had passed from the date of signing our contract, Mr Mayer got in contact.
We advised him that we required the kitchen cabinet to be installed prior to Christmas or wanted our deposit refunded as the terms of the contract we had entered into were not met.
On 16th December 2011 Mr Mayer told us that the cabinet was completed and would be installed on 20th December 2011, four days later. Once again this date passed and our cabinet was not delivered or installed.
It was evident to us that Mr Mayer had no intention of fulfilling his contract with us; therefore on 24th January 2012 we applied to the CTTT (Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal) to have our matter heard. On 1st March 2012 we attended a hearing at the CTTT and at this meeting an order was made for Mr Mayer to repay us our deposit of $8000.00 by 15th March 2012. Mr Stefan Mayer did not comply with the CTTT order dated 1st March 2001 and we have not received our $8000.00 that he was ordered to repay us. As all CTTT orders are enforceable and must be complied with we proceeded with the matter. On 16th March 2012 we obtained a certified copy of the CTTT order and had it registered by the Downing Centre local court. On 30th March 2012 a Notice of Writ for the Levy of Property, was issued against the judgement debtor Mr Stefan Mayer, the Director of Bespoke Installations Pty Ltd.
It is now 13th July 2012, over a year since we signed the contract and paid our 50% cash deposit. We have not received our $8000.00 ordered by the courts to be repaid to us and Mr Stefan Mayer is still a Director of the company Bespoke Installations Pty Ltd and continues to trade.
