Another bad experience here! The delay and money lost has been completely stressful. Do not use this company - no matter how good they seem during the sales process!. Matter has now been referred to the Tribunal. I still have some work that needs to be done I am thinking of contacting Lovely Kitchens to complete it if they are the suppliers.

Has your matter been heard at the Tribunal? I urge all people with complaints to take it directly to the Office of Fair Trading. They will contact Scullery & Holz but dont expect it to get resolved - S & H are shockingly hopeless. How they managed to survive this long is amazing. The matter than passes on to the Tribunal where you can seek recovery of money and obtain compensation. I will be pursuing this matter out of principle!

This company as also come to the attention of the ASIC through creditors that were not paid.

Our matter is yet to be resolved through the CTTT. Should we not get the result we expect there ,we will take the matter to Court.

Hi, Indigored75,
Lovely Kitchens were the people who were engaged by Scullery & Holz to make our cabinetry. When Scullery & Holz virtually abandoned the project as they were incapable of finishing the job we engaged Lovely Kitchens to complete it, correcting all the design errors and omissions of Scullery & Holz. Lovely Kitchens are a reputable business and we have been most satisfied with their work. Have a look at our kitchen on their web site:

CTTT Hearing 28 November 2011
Hi,
As expected Stefan Mayer did not attend the CTTT this morning. His representative asked for a further three weeks. This was granted with the warning that no further excuses will be tolerated. Stefan Mayer must provide the information upon which he bases his case at the end of three weeks. We stated that this was just another delaying tactic and that Stefan Mayer just goes around taking deposits and then doing nothing. We showed the Member (the CTTT officer) the list of ten people complaining about Scullery & Holz at:
http://www.companynamesucks.com/scullery-&-holz-interiors-pty-ltd--anc--102-846-284-sucks-9250.html
Next hearing will be next year. Will keep you updated here.

If everybody took their complaints to the CTTT now, justice will be done to these unscrupulous people.

Be Aware Hoax -Scullery & Holz Interiors Pty Ltd

The hearing at CTTT on 15th December 2010 was attended with Stefan Mayer arriving twelve minutes late (again). On our way to the hearing, we had a call from another unhappy customer of Scullery & Holz, stating that the company was now on the "insolvency list". This was mentioned to the Member at the CTTT. When Stefan Mayer was asked if that was the case he stated that it could well be from Friday 16th December 2011.
We presented our claim in the format required by the CTTT on a Scott Schedule ( down loaded from the http://www.cttt.nsw.gov.au/pdfs/Dispute_resolution/Forms/scottsschedule1.pdf).

The respondents to our claim now have until 19th January 2012 to respond. A.J.K Constructions Pty Ltd is the other respondent. This company is also not licensed to do building or electrical work. A.J.K Constructions Pty Ltd failed to provide Home Warranty Insurance and a Certificate of Compliance for the electrical work done in our kitchen.

My understanding of the law is that if a director of a company continues to trade while the company is insolvent then personal assets of the director can be accessed to pay the creditors of the company.

It could be in the interests of all you unhappy customers of Scullery & Holz Interiors Pty Ltd to join together and perhaps make a Class Action Claim against them. Additionally if you all lodge complaints with the ASIC stating that you believe the Company was operating while insolvent, then the ASIC could well investigate them. We have already lodged such a complaint with the ASIC. Their response was that at this stage they would do nothing. However if four or more of you lodge similar complaints then ASIC may take notice.

We are told by another unhappy customer of Scullery & Holz that they have paid $27,000.00 so far with nothing to show for it. Stefan Mayer has a knack of winning the sympathy of his customers and wheedling large sums of money from them with very convincing stories of hardship. He is expert in persuasion by flattery and guile. Beware of his promises and do not believe a word he says. What a terrible way to run a business! His father Tom is also expert in procrastination and giving misleading information regarding the progress of the work being carried out.

PROBLEMS WITH SCULLERY & HOLZ INTERIORS P/L

This Blog site has been started so that customers can leave comments here - both favourable and unfavourable.

A more appropriate name for this company could be
SKULLDUGGERY & HOAX

When we decided to replace our kitchen early in 2010 we looked at quite a few showrooms and finally were trying to decide between two companies on our short list: Scullery and Holz Interiors P/L in Willoughby and Mobalpa Kitchens in Drummoyne. Stefan Mayer, the owner of Scullery & Holz Interiors P/L was most attentive to all our enquiries and promptly provided us with a complete set of drawings for the proposed kitchen. Our telephone calls were answered immediately and upon making changes to the plans Stefan Mayer immediately produced a new set of drawings ( on four occasions). Sadly, this early attention to our calls and enquiries prompted us to sign a contract with Stefan Mayer of Scullery & Holz Interiors P/L.

Our experience with this company has been a nightmare. We signed a contract with Stefan Mayer of Scullery and Holz Interiors P/L on 30 June 2010 for a kitchen which was scheduled to start at end August 2010 and be completed within eight weeks. This company took a deposit of $11,000.00 and then failed to perform. Once the deposit was paid, Stefan Mayer was virtually impossible to contact.

Scullery and Holz Interiors Pty Ltd failed to provide us with Home Warranty Insurance, they failed to engage licensed tradesperson's. They failed to keep their promise to complete the kitchen on four occasions:
  1. 26th October 2010;
  2. 20th November 2010;
  3. 20th December 2010
  4. 24th January 2011.
They did not start the job until mid October and did not order the cabinetry until mid November 2010. They failed to pay the cabinet maker- Lovely Kitchens prior to expecting them to allow for pickup. We got delivery of the cabinetry on 7th December 2010 by going to Lovely Kitchens ourselves and paying Scullery & Holz in advance at the factory. There were numerous design faults that Scullery & Holz were unable to fix themselves. One week after delivery of the cabinetry they commenced instalation. Their installer then walked off the job on the 18th December. On 20th December they promised to finish the kitchen by 24th January 2011. Scullery & Holz closed for the Christmas holidays on 23th December 2010 sending us an e-mail instructing us to immediately pay the balance of the contract price to their bench top supplier before they would start our bench tops.
Had we done this we would have paid the full amount of the contract price to Scullery & Holz. We would have had a kitchen that was not even correctly installed, with cabinetry and fittings in disarray and that were not according to our requirements, without bench tops, without appliances installed and connected and cabinetry unpainted. In the end they virtually abandoned the job and it was then finished by Lovely Kitchens costing us an additional $11,900.00 over and above the contract price. Scullery and Holz failed to keep their promise to reimburse us for any amounts we paid Lovely Kitchens to finish the job they could not complete themselves. We were without a kitchen from mid September 2010 until 24th February 2011.
This has been a most traumatic and costly experience - an absolute nightmare.

Problems with Scullery & Holz Interiors pl

This Blog is intended as a forum for people to warn others of the potential problems they may encounter when they choose Scullery & Holz Interiors pl of Willoughby NSW 2068, Sydney Australia to design and install a kitchen or any other type of home renovation.

Our own experience with this company has been financial disaster - costing us an additional $11,600.00 on top of the price of $46,180.00 that appeared on the contract.

We first approached Scullery & Holz in February 2010 to give us a quote for our new kitchen. Stafan Mayer, the director, was told that we wished to appoint somebody who would be our sole contact during the process. We did not wish to be involved with plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters, benchtop providers or any body else during the entire process. We especially indicated that we required this person to also provide us with the NSW Home Warranty Insurance. Stefan Mayer assured us that he would be willing and able to meet our requirements. As a result of his prompt response to our enquiries and the detailed drawings provided, Scullery and Holz Interiors pl were choosen from the four companies which submitted quotes. We had a three hour meeting with Stefan Mayer in our home on 29th June 2010 to discuss all the finer points, inclusions and requirements to be incorporated in the contract. Stefan Mayer came to our home on 30th June 2010 and before we signed the contract he assured us that all the matters we had discussed the previous night were incorporated in the contract. We signed the contract and during the next two days we paid Scullery & Holz a deposit of $11,000.00 in cash. From that point onwards it was extremely difficult to contact Stefan Mayer. He would not answer his telephone nor reply to the numerous messages we left for him. Our emails sent to him were ignored by him. When we went to his showroom in Willoughby he was never there. We were obliged to deal with his father Tom, or his office assistant. They were never able to resolve any problems and merely relayed our concerns to Stefan. Eventually we would get a call from Stefan who would apologise profusely and indicate that he had been too busy to communicate earlier.

The NSW Home Warranty Insurance which should have been provided at the time of signing of the contract was never provided. We later found out that Scullery & Holz were unlicensed to do the work they had contracted to do. Further we were told by the NSW Dept of Fair Trading that Scullery & Holz had engaged unlicensed tradespersons to install the kitchen.

Scullery & Holz did not commence work on the kitchen until the middle of October 2010. Stefan Mayer's many promises to complete the kitchen by specified dates were never kept. The kitchen cabinets were not ordered until November 2010 and did not commence being manufactured by Lovely Kitchens until the cabinet maker was paid a deposit of $1,500.00. When the cabinets were ready to be picked up Scullery & Holz were unable to pay Lovely Kitchens the $13,500.00 owing. We went to Lovely Kitchens on 7th December 2010 with Stefan Mayer and took $13,500.00 in cash with us. While the cabinets were being loaded onto the pickup truck engaged by Scullery & Holz, we paid Stefan Mayer $13,500.00 in cash which he was to immediately pay Lovely Kitchens. It appeared that this was not enough and we paid Lovely Kitchens a further $1,749.00 by credit card as Stefan Mayer was unable to make this payment himself.

When the installer tried to install the cabinets he had numerous problems. He was unable to contact Stefan Mayer by telephone. After four days of frustration the installer walked off the job. The measurements for the cupboards along one wall were incorrect and the cupboards were protruding half way across the door architrave. Stefan Mayer suggested that the architrave be reduced by 100 mm with the cupboard flush up against it. THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE. Stefan Mayer then suggested that two cupboard units be reduced by 50 mm each and that 50 mm be taken off the inside of each of the cupboard doors to save remaking the doors. This was also unacceptable as they would not match the profiles of all the other cupboard doors in the kitchen.
